Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient medical practice used for thousands of years across Asia. The practice includes diagnosing the patient and finding individualized treatments for each person. The practitioner will use very fine needles to promote vital energy called “Qi (pronounced “chee”) to rebalance and bring the body back to a healthy state. This vital energy in western medicine is found in fascia. Fascia is the connective tissue in our bodies providing support, structure and protection to nerves, muscles, organs and other tissues. By putting thin needles into specific areas of fascia an Acupuncturist can stimulate nerves triggering the release of neurotransmitters like Endorphins, Serotonin, Cortisol, Oxytocin, Melatonin, and Dopamine. Acupuncture also causes micro-trauma to the tissue to improve blood circulation and promote healing. In short Acupuncture is used to guide your body to heal itself.
Cupping/ Gua Sha
Cupping and Gua Sha are traditional Chinese healing techniques that have been used for centuries to promote health and well-being.
Cupping: Involves placing heated or suction cups on the skin, creating suction that draws blood to the surface. This can help improve circulation, reduce pain, and promote healing.
Gua Sha: Utilizes a flat, curved tool to scrape the skin, creating red marks known as "sha." This technique can help alleviate pain, inflammation, and muscle tension. It may also boost the immune system and aid in detoxification.
Both techniques can be used individually or in combination to address a variety of health concerns.
Auricular Therapy
Auricular Therapy is based on the concept of "microcosmic reflection," which posits that the ear is a miniature representation of the entire body. There are numerous auricular points, each associated with a paricular body par or function. Our practitioner will use various techniques to stimulate these points, such as inserting thin needles and applying pressure with ear seeds. Dr. Amanda also does an Auricular Diagnosis. How does it work? The ear is like a map, and Dr. Amanda can "read" it to identify imbalances or issues within the body. By examining the ear's shape, color, and various points, they can pinpoint areas of concern.
